The Daily Show on PETA's Misguided, Racist Attempt to Free Orcas... By Claiming They're the Same as African Slaves
“Last night, Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac interviewed a VP at PETA about the animal rights group’s latest stunt: suing SeaWorld on behalf of five orcas, claiming that the animals should be freed under the 13th Amendment. PETA has long been criticized for its sexist and degrading depictions of women, but this time the group is under fire for comparing orcas to African slaves — or rather, suggesting that orcas kept at an amusement park are the same as slaves since the 13th Amendment doesn’t explicitly state that it only applies to humans.
Of course Cenac had a field day with the PETA representative, pointing out just how racist the group’s lawsuit is.”
